The Godd#mn Frank Miller: Superman Year One Announcement
There were, of course, fans of the publisher that did not look forward to or pay attention to the new line of comics until the release of "Batman: Damned" in September 2018. The premiere title of Black Label drew in publicity after readers witnessed the provocative imagery of a nude Batman. Prices on the comic increased dramatically and became erratic for a period of time. Such a situation was enough for readers to start looking at the new line of comics with the expectation of being impressed by the promise of a new more "no holds barred" style of writing. And who better to call to give readers a dark and atypical tale than Frank Miller.
To those not familiar with his work, Miller is a well established comic writer and artist known for his enveloping pushing stories. He is credited with such successes like "The Dark Knight Returns," "Batman: Year One," and "300." He is also known for his "not so successful" works like "All-Star Batman and Robin: The Boy Wonder," which was famously nicknamed "The Goddamn Batman." On occasion, Miller writing can take quite a drastic turn that readers may not usually vibe with, but most of his work holds readers' attention.
Based on the cover art alone, done by the marvelous John Romita Jr., certainly looks to be another very entertaining work. If Miller's past interpretations of the Man of Steel give any indication of what to expect, then the new mini series will certainly be something readers will need to see to understand. Also, fans of the Dark Knight series, which had a recent addition with "Dark Knight: Master Race," will be overjoyed read a series exclusively about Carey Kelly. A Robin outside of the main DC continuity who has gathered enough of a fanbase to warrant a solo story. The Carey Kelly story is currently untitled and does not have a suspected date of release. "Superman: Year One" is suspected to be released with it's first single issue by November 2019.
