Thoughts on Batman

The World's Greatest Detective is truly a character who needs no introduction as his image has been forever carved into the heart of American culture and history. Most people who have ever seen or heard any form of media have acknowledged something that references the character and his stories. His symbol has been on animated TV shows, live action TV shows, movies of both categories, clothes, games, and anything else you can think of. Yet, you can say all the same things about Superman, if not add on even more in his favor. Batman has been glorified and placed on such a high pedestal that many comic readers can not help but see him in nothing more than a satirical manner. His popularity is well earned because of how the character works and how he must be written to match the standard that had been set for the character.

Batman, alter-ego Bruce Wayne, is just a human being, a lot of people can only see him as only being at a disadvantage in stories involving characters with powers. Regardless of the fact that he is written a genius and master martial-artist, not to mention an enormous wealth with and host of gadgets, he was written as a person of true triumph. His stories are written in compelling, downtrodden epics that are meant to push him past his limits. Batman's stories test what he can bare psychologically and emotionally. There are stories where he must see the worst of himself and face it all on his own without leniency. His best stories are known for how they pull no punches in depicting very aggressive subject matter. They not only make you think, but truly convinces you that he may not win by the end or at least come out unscathed. At their core they are mysteries, tests of the mind when written well, among his counter parts he is the most tested.

I could go on just complementing his stories and speaking on his challenges, but people like him for that small amount of reliability. People his to his situation of feeling at a complete disadvantage, but somehow pressing forward to figure out a way to succeed. Not by just punching his way through the problem when it is most appeal, but looking past the pain, tricks, and lies to make an accomplishment. My opinion of Batman is bias, and some day I will write something more accurate, but for now this is how I view the character.
