Tie-ins can be Nuses

When a comic book companies want to make  a huge, engrossing story, they try to ad extra stories called "tie-ins". Tie-ins  are smaller short stories that somehow relate the main one being told that give a different perspective.

These stories can be about the main character or characters  doing something separate from the main plot. They can also take a look at a different character and their involvement in the main story, as  minute as it may sometimes be. Either way, tie-ins are ment to give a view on situations people may wonder a about while reading.

However, tie-ins can be the more bothersome part of a major story event to deal with. The main story can be written very well to hold someone's interest for a while, but that can all fall to pieces if there are a litter of tie-in stories.

A problem like this would be if there is are a set of comics for the main overlapping story, minor side one-shots, and stories for individual characters. With each one of these categories being having multiple comics under them. An over saturation of literature can cause a reader to just drop a story and miss out on something that could have been worth it in the end.

This doesn't just distress the reader, it also hurts the comic publisher as well. When a reader decides they just don't  want to read a an event anymore, that means the comic will not sell many copies. Comics seem less worth the purchase when there are so many tie-ins that you have to buy just to understand the story.

There have been some good tie-ins before, one or two stories dropped in that add a little light to certain character or part of the main story. There have even been tie-ins that answer questions readers have had for years about characters.

Marvel and have both had their ups and downs in the way of drawing a story out for much longer than it needed to. On occasion this can be appreciated, but it also damage their business and the relationship the have with their fans.
